1 – I Love Thanos – Seriously!
1st and the obvious reason is that I love thanos. I already have a few thanos here in my collection and this is the last thanos PO that I have. So far I have this custom thanos vs silver surfer diorama, i have this beefy thanos from the same studio as this thanos, I have the MCU end game thanos from Iron studios and ofcourse the Thanos version 2 by XM. I really really love thanos, but I dont see myself pre-ordering him anymore unless if its that damn good. But I still do want a thanos on throne statue, especially from sideshow. but if a pretty good custom one comes a long ill consider that instead.
2 – Pricing of the Thanos and Death Diorama
2nd reason is the price. Although I love thanos, I am still picky with the prices. And yes this is a diorama since we have lady death with thanos. this statue is actually just 1200 USD. Although the thanos vs silver surfer diorama just costs 950 USD. The sculpt and paint is more superior and this one but more on that later. And I think XM thanos and death diorama is almost $2000 (USD). Im not saying this one is better than that. Of course XM is better since it has the more superior sculpt in every way possible. But for a custom and a diorama the price is definitely great. Plus this thanos actually jump started a sub cosmic group. Which led to my annihilator collection.
3 – Size and Type of Statue
3rd reason is because of its size. Since this is a museum type statue, and im actually moving my direction of collection to museum type statues. I really really love how easy it is to display the statue. The Dimension of the base is just 12.5 inches deep and 12.5 inches wide because its a circle or round type of base. But the statue itself is 28 inches tall, and the finger tips of the infinity gauntlet is the highest peak, around 14 inches wide because of thanos’ right hand sticking out and the 12.5 inches deep remains the same. I even have him displayed at my back. Didn’t expect him to fit since the thanos vs silver surfer diorama was taller than this. Also Ive seen people saying this is under scaled, its actually not. Thanos in the comics is 6ft 7inches tall, that means he is 79 inches tall. So you divide that by 4 and you get 19.75 inches. Thanos alone is actually 19.5 inches tall. He’s short .25 inches but you get the idea. Here’s thanos also compared to XM version 2 thanos. Quite a difference right? Looks like XM is now 1/3.
4 – Sculpt of Thanos and Death – Great anatomy!
4th reason is the sculpt. The first thanos i got from this studio was a bit disappointing honestly. Lots of miss on the paint, and somehow just the finish isnt what i had expected. When I saw this thanos revealed, I immediately fell in-love with the sculpt. First for thanos he is more comic accurate than the first thanos that i have. has a blend of areas with textures and some without. the yellow parts are sculpted really good, you could definitely tell that its supposed to be armor. and as for death, the intricate details on his dress is just amazing. really glad the factory was able to capture it like 95-99%. they don’t looked like they were erased or whatever. Both are equally great in terms of sculpt especially the anatomy. I love it that thanos doesn’t look like a fat guy here. yes I know that is the more accurate anatomy of thanos, but I just prefer this one.
5 – Grail potential
5th reason and the last reason is back then when I PO this, it was easily the best custom thanos imo that is standing up. Yes standing up, and that does not include thrones. Because theres one custom throne statue that to me looks pretty good. not that id get that over this one but its worth mentioning. so back to my reason is back then i thought this might have a potential to be a grail kind of thanos. since the sideshow thanos on throne never reached that statue because of its edition size. oh by the way this thanos has an edition size of 50 and i got #26. So if you would ask me if this is a grail. my answer would be no. But its definitely a good thanos to own, better than the other ones around. especially if you are looking for a comic accurate thanos.
